Drs. Mischenko, Jong and Lee and our staff join Dr. Levin in contributing to the local, national and world-wide community by giving time and financial resources to improve quality of life for patients.
Teaching
Drs. Levin, Mischenko and Lee have been honored to be included on the faculty of several leading dental teaching institutions.
University of Pennsylvania
Dr. Levin reports that some of the highlights of the past few years have been to serve as Chair of the Board of Overseers at the School of Dental Medicine. Together with faculty, students, administrators and staff, we were able to recruit a more diverse student body, improve the educational experience for doctoral and post-doctoral students and increase endowment funding to support capital improvements, scholarships and faculty salaries. Now as Chair of the Dean’s Council, Dr. Levin has been able to help re-envision the school’s continuing education program and continue with other initiatives.
University of Maryland
Dr. Mishcenko joins Dr. Levin as a member of the adjunct faculty at the University of Maryland. Teaching in both the pre- and post-doctoral programs on a regular schedule has allowed them to share their knowledge in endodontic treatment.
Nova Southeastern University
Dr. Levin joined the adjunct faculty of NSU 11 years ago and teaches in the endodontic residency program on a regular basis. Recently, he was honored to conduct the program’s 2-day alumni seminar attended by residents from NSU and the University of Florida, along with alumni of the school.
University of Minnesota
Teaching and research, in addition to the clinical practice, have always been Dr. Lee’s passion. It is a small step toward his vision of leaving a positive impact to the society and in the field of endodontics. Dr. Lee has been privileged to serve future dentists at the University of Minnesota as an adjunct assistant professor in the pre-doctoral endodontics clinic.
American Red Cross Blood Drive
Each year, our practice hosts the Chesapeake and Potomac Chapters of the American Red Cross with a blood drive in our office. We have been fortunate to work with a dedicated team from the Red Cross who come to our office for the day to help alleviate the blood shortage in our community, especially during the Christmas holiday season. Our American Red Cross Blood Drive will take place at our office on Friday, January 17, 2014. Please call for an appointment.
Mid-Maryland Mission of Mercy
On August 3, 2013, the doctors and staff at Bethesda-Chevy Chase Root Canal Specialists performed triage and root canal procedures at the Mid-Maryland Mission of Mercy free dental clinic. Partnering with local organizations such as the Maryland State Dental Society and the Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of DC, much-needed dental care was provided to local residents.
The Mid-Maryland Mission of Mercy was created because of a profound need for access to dental services for low income, uninsured and under-served adults. The American Dental Association reports that only 58 percent of those without dental insurance had a dental appointment within one year.
So Others Might Eat
Drs. Levin, Mischenko and Jong have always felt that contributing back to the community was an important part of the office’s mission. So Others Might Eat (SOME), an interfaith, community-based organization that exists to help the poor and homeless of our nation’s capital, has been a recipient of the office’s efforts over the years.
Missionary Service in Leshan City, China
Dr. Levin joined Dr. William Cheung and seven physicians on a missionary trip to Leshan City, located on the southwestern fringe of the Red Basin in southern Sichuan. They provided services to needy patients and presented programs to the faculty and dental residents at the city’s hospital. Thanks to a donation from Global Surgical, Dr. Levin brought the first surgical operating microscope and digital x-ray system to China for use in dentistry.
